APR 211H - LMPE Apprenticeship Motors and Controls


Credits - 4 Lecture - 4
This course introduces students to foundational electrical wiring and circuit principles, emphasizing practical applications and code compliance. Learners will analyze and apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) to determine conductor sizing, ampere ratings, and service entrance requirements. Through hands-on activities, students will design and evaluate series and parallel circuits, configure battery systems, and perform voltage drop calculations. The course also covers installation standards for lighting and receptacle outlets, use of electrical measuring instruments, and protective measures such as lightning safeguards.
Course Designation: C/T Elective - A maximum of 12 credits of college-level career and technical courses may be used as electives in the A.A.O.T. and the A.A.S. degrees.
