IST 143 - Single-Phase Motors


Credits - 3 Lecture/Lab - 3
Covers the types and operating principles of common single-phase motors. Explains NEMA motor standards. Explains how to identify motor leads on split-phase, capacitor-start, capacitor-run, permanent split capacitor, and repulsion motors. Covers universal motors, shaded-pole motors, synchro motors, and servo systems. Gives general maintenance procedures for all single-phase motors.
Prerequisite: IST 141  
Course Designation: C/T Elective - A maximum of 12 credits of college-level career and technical courses may be used as electives in the A.A.O.T. and the A.A.S. degrees.
