Unmanned Aircraft Systems (AAS)

Intended Program Outcomes:
The Unmanned Aircraft Systems AAS is designed to graduate a professional workforce that operates on par with manned aviation organizations. Students will learn how to operate UAS in a variety of different settings, including surveying and mapping, search and rescue (S&R), environmental monitoring, and police surveillance. Advanced skills in mission planning, pre-flight inspections, programming, equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance, Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), data collection, and analysis are emphasized. Learning experiences in this program are designed to assist the student in realizing the following outcomes:
- Apply Federal Aviation Administration regulations necessary to operate unmanned aircraft systems on par with manned aviation.
- Correctly configure an unmanned aircraft’s system with the appropriate sensor(s) for a specified operation.
- Perform advanced maintenance procedures for various unmanned aircraft system platforms.
- Plan and execute an unmanned aircraft system operation safely and within FAA regulations, including BVLOS.
- Safely operate multiple unmanned aircraft system platforms.
- Successfully collect geospatial data with unmanned aircraft systems
- Understand and apply safety procedures related to unmanned aircraft systems operations.
