ET 114 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems Credits - 4 Lecture - 3 Lab - 1 An introduction to the fundamentals of geographic information systems (GIS) including a brief history of automated mapping, and basic cartographic principles including map scales/ coordinate systems/map projections. Hands on use of computer-based ESRI Software will introduce the concepts of layering data from multiple sources into a coherent system. Applicable to geography, sciences, agriculture, business, and engineering uses. Course Designation: C/T Elective - A maximum of 12 credits of college-level career and technical courses may be used as electives in the A.A.O.T. and the A.A.S. degrees.
