UMA 101 - First Year Umatilla Credits - 4 Lecture - 4 This course will introduce the student to the Umatilla language. Umatilla is a Sahaptin language primarily spoken on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The student will learn the four areas that are essential to speaking grammatical phrases in Umatilla to reach novice-level speaking proficiency with an emphasis on writing. Oral exercises will be coupled with grammar exercises to ensure students obtain a firm understanding of grammatical constructions of the Umatilla language. Term(s) Offered: Fall Course Designation: Elective - A transferable course that can be used to fulfill undesignated elective requirements in the associate’s degree programs.
