CH 110 - Introduction to Organic, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology Credits - 5 Lecture - 4 Lab - 1 This course covers the principal functional groups of organic chemistry, nomenclature, physical properties, basic reactions, and their applications to living systems. In addition, the course covers the principal classes of biomolecules: proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids. The in-person laboratory sessions focus on the analysis of biomolecules using current biotechnology techniques.
This course is intended for students interested in Medical Laboratory preparation. Prerequisite: CH 104 recommended Term(s) Offered: Spring (hybrid) Course Designation: Discipline Studies - A transferable course that meets distribution (group) requirements in the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (A.A.O.T.) degree. Note: Courses meeting distribution requirements may always be used as electives in the transfer degrees.
