PSY 206 - Coping Skills for Stress Credits - 3 Lecture - 3 The theories and practices of stress management will be presented in this course. Techniques for coping, such as relaxation, visualization, imagery, meditation, exercise, nutrition, rational-emotive thinking, assertion and time management will be employed. Students will be required to assess the impact of various stressors upon their well-being and to design coping styles that are preventative and which promote their mental and physical well-being. The focus of this class is educational, not therapeutic. Emphasis will be equally divided among academic and participatory requirements. Course Designation: Elective - A transferable course that can be used to fulfill undesignated elective requirements in the associate’s degree programs.
