CJ 132 - Probation and Parole: Systems and Practices Credits - 3 Lecture - 3 This course provides an overview of community-based corrections, focusing primarily on probation and parole processes, and how each function plays an integral role in the criminal justice system. Topics addressed include the historical and philosophical foundations of probation and parole, evidence-based best practices in the management of reducing risk in the community and the administration of probation and parole services at the federal, state, and local levels. Prerequisite: WR 060 or placement Term(s) Offered: Spring Course Designation: Elective - A transferable course that can be used to fulfill undesignated elective requirements in the associate’s degree programs.
