MA 205 - Introduction to Clinical Medical Assisting Credits - 4 Lecture - 2 Lecture/Lab - 2 This course introduces the student to the skills and responsibilities of the medical assistant in the back office of the clinic setting in the ambulatory care office. Emphasis is placed on safety and privacy, patient care, provider interaction, patient preparations and interventions, initial assessment, and history gathering. Prerequisites: MA 201 , BA 214 or WR 115 or higher, BA 104 or MTH 062 or higher (all with grades of C or better) Corequisite: BI 130 or all of BI 231Z , BI 232Z , and BI 233Z (all with grades of C or better) Course Designation: C/T Elective - A maximum of 12 credits of college-level career and technical courses may be used as electives in the A.A.O.T. and the A.A.S. degrees.
