VT 202 - Veterinary Surgical Assisting Credits - 2 Lecture - 2 This course covers the fundamental information for the basic knowledge of surgical nursing. Topics include: various surgical procedures and the role the veterinary technician plays in that procedure, aseptic techniques, patient positioning, instrument identification and the proper handling/care of each one, instrument sterilization, identify suture materials, types and sizes, perform basic suturing techniques, and patient post-operative care. Prerequisites: VT 121 Term(s) Offered: Spring Course Designation: C/T Elective - A maximum of 12 credits of college-level career and technical courses may be used as electives in the A.A.O.T. and the A.A.S. degrees.
